Tips and Tricks to becoming a Second-hand-inista:
1. If it looks like you could perhaps, maybe, possibly wear it, give it a chance. Some of my favorite finds have been things I would have never picked out at the mall.
2. Take your time. Second-hand shopping requires a lot of time. You absolutely must try every thing on. If you're in a hurry, don't bother.
3. Inspect it. Let's be real, these clothes have belonged to someone else! Make sure seams are intact, zippers are fixated properly, etc.
4. Make friends with a tailor. Some "vintage" pieces may be brought up to the latest trend with a simple lift of the hem. For a few extra dollars, your clothes can fit you like a glove and look like you spent a million bucks!!
5. If at first you don't succeed, try again. There is this cute designer consignment shop that I visited a couple times without any luck. One day I noticed they were having a 50% off sale, so I figured I'd give it another shot. I ended up buying 11 items.
