Principles for the ethical consumer

I found this website. It has great principles to abide by when trying to be an ethical consumer (including when fair trade isn't an option). You can also search through pretty much any brand of items you would find at a grocery store to find out if they have any major offenses.

  2. Thanks for your postings Jenny! Last week I needed a new pair of pants for work, and I was inspired by you to explore my local resale shop. What treasures I found!! A perfect pair of cute pants for work, the most adorable pale pink patten leather vintage dress shoes, and a charming milk glass vase. All for just $19!! And, to top it off I discovered that this particular boutique is part of an organization which provides counseling for pregnancy help and education called Preservation of Human Dignity (they function on the foundation that all human life is sacred) . Proceeds of sales directly support PHD’s Baby & Maternity Closet and the programs/services PHD provides to their clients. It was such a blessing to know that my purchases were supporting a cause I believe in AND were helping to "decrease my sweatshop footprint" by not buying my items new! Thanks for your inspiration :)
